On top of that, they broke my study table. Now, there the owner played the real game. He convinced me that instead of paying me the insurance damage, he would actually arrange for the repair himself. Alas, I never saw him or any of his men again. My repeated phone calls were answered with false promises but never an action. I wish I had claimed the money instead, however little it was.
Interesting reading these reviews. These guys were punctual and easy to work with, and the price was right, or so I thought. They were very friendly, but the ones that showed up to move us, were kids, maybe early 20's. Nice guys, but they needed a lot of direction, so it took them a long time. We moved from a 3000 sq ft home to another of the same size, and it took them 12 hours - moving a distance of 30 miles. That was for most of the stuff, they still had other stuff to bring over the following morning, but asked to get paid the night before. They didn't show up with the original trucks they said they would. They broke the one picture we hadn't moved ourselves. They broke dishes. They left scuff marks on the floor. My baby's organic cotton mattress was soiled with grease. They smoked often - and right outside of our home, so it all came in affecting our other kid who has allergies. I don't know..maybe I got an off crew. I liked that they did put beds/things back together when they brought things here - the beds and desks.
I learnt the big lesson with Great West, dont repeat it with yourself.
We've used Great West moving twice. The first time Rob (the owner) helped move us and it was a totally awesome experience. He was punctual and everything was handled with care and wrapped and packed extremely well. This made us confident to use him a year or so later. This second experience, Rob was on vacation and we had a group of others move us and the experience was totally different. In the end it all went well, but they were 2 hours late, they didn't wrap anything, and we had no confidence when the driver arrived saying it's the first time she had driven the truck and was still getting used to it. One piece of furniture was dropped while loading the truck (nothing damaged thankfully). All I can recommend is that if you use Great West - insist that you Rob himself helps you move.
Dont fall for the cheap rates, your stuff would cost much more!!
I used Great West moving to move into my new condo few months ago. I did not have much stuff. But that did not save me any stress. I had a piano and I made it very clear with them beforehand that it would be quite a heavy and delicate piece to move. To my surprise, they just sent in three people and one of them seemed to be quite an amateur as a mover. Clearly, they did not have much experience as how to move a 20K piano and tried all sorts of gross techniques one would do with a couch. When the move was over, my new piano had two cracks, one broken wheel and countless scratches.
